School Literacy Plan

As part of our compliance with our Title I designation along with our Read to Succeed Requirements, our school is providing support to our struggling readers to provide them with additional interventions to help them gain the reading growth they need to be successful. Our school:

  • has a Literacy Leadership Team to review our literacy plan and provide opportunities for students and families to be informed about steps for reading success through planned interventions, Literacy Nights, and parent meetings, conferences and phone calls.
  • provides Intervention programs such as Reading Recovery, Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) along with research based intervention strategies.
  • participates in Canvas professional development opportunities and courses to increase skills for providing literacy instruction.
  • provides small group guided reading lessons within the classroom.
  • conducts observations by administration, reading coach, and peers to gain knowledge about how to best support students’ reading instruction.
  • provides additional targeted assistance during a specifically assigned Read to Succeed Block separate from regular literacy block of time.
  • assesses students using Fountas and Pinell Benchmark Assessments across all grade levels to help identify students' instructional and independent reading levels to provide consistency throughout the school and the district.
  • develops Literacy Assessment Portfolios for students identified in the 30th percentile or lower on the nationally normed NWEA MAP test.
  • identify and provide interventions through our Student Intervention Team to assess students' ability to perform successfully in the classroom.
