Our message to our families and students is that we want to provide a safer, kinder environment in which to learn and grow. We want our EVERYONE to be HEROs. This means we want to Help Everyone Respect Others. We want to help train our students to be respectful and if they see situations when others are not being respectful, they should stand up for that person. We want our students to see that everyone deserves respect. Have your students wear a Super Hero shirt on Tuesday, October 8th to show that they want to be a HERO!

Fall MAP Testing is complete and we have updated information on our students' academic progress since last spring. Students who fall within the 25th percentile or lower on this nationally normed assessment may be an indicator that your child has some significant weaknesses in an academic area. We want to keep an eye on these students and provide additional assistance to help them master their appropriate grade level standards.

If your student is in the third grade, MAP Test can be an indicator of how they will perform on SCREADY. We will host a meeting for parents to discuss SC READY Legislation on Monday, October 14th at 6:00 PM.

Students in second grade will take two tests towards the end of the month. The first test called ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) will be taken on Wednesday, October 16th and Friday, October 18th. The second test is referred to as CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test). This test will be administered on Monday, October 28th - Wednesday, October 30th. The CogAT test helps determine if a student will participate in Gifted and Talented Program in grades third through fifth. Students in Grades 2 - 5 can be referred to participate in this test. Please contact Mrs. Corbett ( if you have any questions or would like to refer a student for testing.

As a parent, you are a partner in your child's education.
